We are almost finished with the Lao Lao Revegetation Project for the year!
In a post on August 1 I published a satellite photo of the revegetation area outlined in yellow. The two area outlined in red are the plantings we have done so far this year.
Our final planting for the year will be just below those two areas. The area is at a lower elevation and does not have a defined trail leading down to it, so yesterday afternoon Vic from CNMI Forestry, Jeremy from DEQ, Tim from CRM and five RC&D volunteers hacked out a trail.
The final planting will be this Sunday at 8:00. Hopefully it won't rain.
One last thing:
The hibiscus cuttings we planted to serve as fire breaks are starting to sprout.
