Group aims to plant coconuts

Beautify CNMI is looking for coconuts!

"We're aiming to plant at least 100 young coconuts on the beach this Sunday, July 9, beginning at 8am," said Tina Sablan, Waste Reduction & Recycling Coordinator of the Division of Environmental Quality.

In particular, the group is looking for coconuts that are already putting out roots and leaves, to make sure that they will be planting viable trees.

Sablan said that volunteers and group members would meet in front of the Resource Conservation and Development Program office next to Naked Fish restaurant on Beach Road.

"If you have coconuts to donate and/or you'd like to volunteer, please call Angelo Villagomez at RC&D at 483-1078," she added. "Hope to see you-or at least your coconuts-on Sunday."
